We saw the neurologist today and what a wonderful visit it was! Dr. Chitnis is great, I really liked her a lot. She is very genuine and informative. After filling her in on Aidan's history I showed her the seizure we had recorded from Wednesday. After watching it she was very relieved. She said that he is having partial seizures with some generalized seizure activity but most importantly, the medicine he is on is the perfect one for the type of seizure he's having. It really helped her to understand what was happening inside our little guy's head.
She also said....wait for it....seven out of ten
kids outgrow these types of seizures! Responding to the medication is also a good thing and increases his odds of being seizure free; let's hope the last three days have been so good becau
se the medicine is taking effect. Once he's seizure free for two years they will then began to wean him from the meds; I was excited about two days seizure free, two years seems like an eternity! She also said that these little seizures shouldn't cause any developmental damage, thank God!
So we just have to be careful to make sure he gets his sleep and stays healthy because kiddos tend to have more seizure activity when they are sick or tired. The doctor will see him again next month for a check up. Will keep you posted!
Thank you to all for your prayers for our little man, they have helped!!! :)
